Motorcyclist From Normal Dies In Bloomington Crash

A motorcyclist, 23, died in a crash in Bloomington Tuesday night.

UPDATED 2:40 p.m. | McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder said a motorcyclist died following a crash Tuesday night in west Bloomington.

Illinois State Police said the victim was Kyle Casey, 23, of Normal. Police said the motorcycle Casey was riding hit the back of a van that was traveling ahead of him south on Rivian Motorway.

According to a news release, the coroner’s office received notification shortly after 11:30 p.m. of a death along southbound Rivian Motorway just south of College Avenue.

The McLean County sheriff’s office, Illinois State Police and Normal Fire Department already were on the scene.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:46 p.m.  

Police said the roadway was closed for about five hours during the crash investigation.
