November home sales rose slightly in Bloomington-Normal, though the average price of a home sold was the lowest since last spring.

The Bloomington-Normal Association of Realtors (BNAR) said Thursday it anticipates closing the year with a 1.5 percent increase in average price and with a 2.3 percent increase in the number of homes sold.

"As you look at the number of resale homes sold year-to-date through the end of November, we are up 4.3 percent and anticipating ending the year closing more homes than any other year since 2006, which was a record-breaking year," BNAR President Danell Moberly said in a statement.

The November average price of $170,000 dropped significantly from the previous seven months.

Meanwhile, there remained almost no new construction sold in the Twin Cities at the end of November. The 81 newly built homes sold so far in 2018 is down 37 percent from 2017, according to BNAR data.

The National Association of Realtors notes Midwestern home sales were up 5.5 percent, or nearly twice the increase for the Twin Cities.

In all, 187 homes, condos, and zero lot line homes changed hands in November in Bloomington-Normal.
