Par-A-Dice Casino Temporarily Shutting Down As New COVID Mitigations Take Effect

Tim Shelley / Peoria Public Radio

The Par-A-Dice casino will shut down to comply with Gov. JB Pritzker's new Tier 3 COVID-19 mitigations.A company spokesman said the Par-A-Dice casino, hotel, and restaurants will close at 11 p.m. Thursday.

Employees will not be furloughed, and will continue to receive pay and benefits, including tips.

Earlier this year, about a quarter of the East Peoria casino's workforce was permanently laid off , as months of closure during the stay-at-home order impacted the casino's bottom lines.

There is no anticipated reopening date for Illinois casinos at this time.

Museums and movie theaters are among the other facilities ordered closed under Pritzker's statewide order as COVID-19 cases surge.
