A Peoria County sheriff's deputy faces felony charges following a retail theft incident.
The Illinois State Police arrested Matthew Hawkins, 47, on Wednesday for misdemeanor retail theft, felony burglary to a commercial business, and felony official misconduct charges.
The Peoria County Sheriff's Office previously asked for the Illinois State Police to investigate the incident.
Hawkins was booked at the Peoria County Jail.
