It appears most Peoria County voters prefer to keep the incumbents currently holding the state's attorney and county clerk's offices.
With all precincts reporting, Peoria County State's Attorney Jodi Hoos beat challenger Chris McCall 60 to 40 percent. Incumbent County Clerk Rachael Parker defeated Gabe McLeod with 56 percent of the vote.
All four candidates are Democrats. No Republicans are running for either seat in the November general election.
Both Hoos and Parker are relatively recent arrivals to those offices. Both women were appointed to the seats after Peoria County State's Attorney Jerry Brady and Peoria County Clerk R. Steve Sonnemaker died within a few days of each other last summer.
Hoos is a former judge and Peoria County prosecutor. Parker served on the Peoria County Board and worked in economic development roles in both Chillicothe and Peoria previously.
For the Peoria Public Schools Board of Education District 3 race, Anni Reinking easily defeated Ivora Hern with three-quarters of the total vote in the race to replace Dan Adler.
Voters in Elmwood also approved a referendum on whether or not the western Peoria County city should allow recreational marijuana sales by a margin of 56 percent to 44 percent.
Voter turnout was just over 21 percent. That's significantly less than the 43 percent who turned out for the last presidential primary in 2016.
