A Peoria man wanted in connection with a November shooting in South Peoria was arrested Wednesday by the U.S. Marshals.

Tyshan Gayton, 23, was the suspect in a Nov. 1 shooting in an alley behind a house in the 2400 block of W. Malone. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries, but survived.

Gayton fired shots when members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force attempted to take him into custody in the 400 block of E. Republic on Nov. 7.

Members of the task force located Gayton Wednesday at a house in the 600 block of Spitznagle. He surrendered to police and was taken into custody on an Illinois Department of Corrections warrant with no bond possible. Gayton violated his parole on a 2015 unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon conviction and a 2014 unlawful possession or delivery of a firearm charge.

Gayton was also arrested for aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, no FOID card, and aggravated battery in connection with the Malone St. incident.
