Peoria Heights Meeting Attendee Tests Positive for COVID-19

An attendee of the Aug. 1 special Peoria Heights Village Board meeting to discuss the future of its fire department tested has positive for COVID-19.

Village Administrator Dennis Sutton said the person diagnosed was wearing a mask and social distancing. That person is now quarantining All attending the Saturday meeting were informed, Sutton said.

“This is a pandemic from which central Illinois is not insulated, so there is a certain inevitability to a situation like this, whether in a publicly accessible local government building, a private sector business or within the confines of someone’s home,” said Sutton.

Sutton said Village Hall is undergoing a deep cleaning. The regularly scheduled village board meeting for Tuesday evening was canceled.
