Peoria International Airport Reports Record Summer

The Peoria International Airport is continuing to set new passenger records this year.

The airport reported its busiest summer ever, with July coming in as its busiest month ever with more than 68,000 passengers.

Airport Director Gene Olson says there are several factors driving the airport’s recent success. They include good summer weather that led to fewer flight cancellations, increased capacity on Chicago-bound flights, and customer support for the airport’s other hub cities.

“We’re focusing on the things that we do best: short security lines, fast check-ins, an easy airport to get in and out of, free parking. These are all things that we’ll continue to do," he said.

Olson says the airport is on track to break last year’s all-time high passenger count of 672,594.
