A Peoria man who allegedly hit a police SUV with his car last week has died from blunt force trauma.

Joe "Jason" Henigan, 36, died at OSF St. Francis Medical Center Monday night, one week after he was admitted with life-threatening injuries.

The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. on June 1.

Witness information gathered at the scene indicates Henigan was driving eastbound on Spring Street when he collided with a Peoria Police vehicle heading north on Jefferson Street.

In a statement, Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said there will be no autopsy. A toxicology report is pending.
