Peoria Public Library Rolls Out New Streaming Services

The Peoria Public Library is embracing new forms of digital media as the third decade of the 21st century dawns.

Randall Yelverton is the library's executive director.

"We wanted to be reaching our patrons where they are, where they're getting their media. And so many people are getting their media online streaming at home. So we wanted to give them a fast mobile way that they could access movies, audiobooks, e-books, TV shows," he said.

The library is rolling out two new services for patrons.

Hoopla has more than 800,000 e-books, audio books, movies, music, and even comic books available free of charge with a library card. RB Digital is another audio book provider. The library has also offered streaming service Kanopy for about a year.
