Peoria Region's 3rd Quarter Sees Overall Favorable Results

The business and economic indicators for 2019's third quarter are looking good.

That's according to Bradley University's Dr. Bernard Goitein, who helps compile the report on the Peoria metropolitan area four times a year.

"Overall, this is favorable. In showing good stability, overall stability, our broadest measures in terms of employment, unemployment. Those are definitely good," he said.

Goitein says the Peoria region has a lower unemployment rate, and is experiencing a decline in part-time jobs as more full-time work opens up.

But retail sales are about the same, and fewer homes are under construction.

The report analyzes 30 different economic indicators across the Peoria metropolitan area, which includes Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, Marshall and Stark counties.
