Peoria Public Schools could be forced to cut all extracurricular activities, from sports to clubs, if state funding doesn't come through in the fall.
Comptroller Mike McKenzie told board members the school district will have to seriously consider whether to offer fall extracurricular activities if it doesn't get money from the state. But even if the school district gets the funding, it will still have to reportedly deal with possible cuts to programs, services and staff to reduce a $7.6 million deficit in its current operating budget.
Officials are pointing to a $2.4 million in potential cost-saving measures.
The board plans to hold a public hearing next month on the amended 2016 budget.
