Peoria Woman's Drowning Death Ruled Homicide

Creative Commons

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says the November death of a local woman is a homicide.

Medics found 60-year-old Nancy Vorrath unresponsive and not breathing when they arrived at her home in the 3000 block of West Lexington Court. She died at the scene on November 23.

Vorrath's husband, 63-year-old Michael Vorrath, was arrested in connection with her death.

Harwood says an autopsy indicates Vorrath died from drowning in a filled utility sink. She also suffered significant blunt force trauma. The Peoria Police Department is investigating the case.

Vorrath's death is Peoria's 25th homicide of 2019.
