Bloomington City Manager David Hales is reportedly a finalist again for a job in another community—at least the third position for which he’s been interviewed this year.
The Herald-News in Joliet reported Wednesday night that Hales has “started negotiations” with Joliet for the city manager job there. Joliet’s city manager retired in May. A decision could be made by the Joliet city council’s Oct. 3 meeting, the Herald-News reported.
Bloomington city spokesperson Nora Dukowitz said Thursday she could not comment on the report.
Hales was recently a finalist for the city manager position in Topeka, Kansas. Earlier this year, he was a finalist for the top job in Racine, Wisconsin. He did not get either job.
Hales' contract with Bloomington runs through mid-July of next year. His salary is about $189,000.
