Creative Commons

Tazewell County Sheriff Jeff Lower said a rural Delavan homeowner shot and killed a man in self-defense Thursday night.

Deputies received a disturbance call from a house on Boynton Road just after 8 p.m. The homeowner, Luke P. Taylor, reportedly heard someone yelling outside and went to investigate.

Lower said the man on his property, 41-year-old Daniel Williamson of San Jose, threatened Taylor, charged at him, and bit his face and head before the homeowner shot them.

Taylor is the Tazewell County Public Defender

Williamson of San Jose was pronounced dead on the scene. The Tazewell County Sheriff's Office, Tazewell County State's Attorney's Office, Tazewell County Coroner's Office and Illinois State Police are investigating.
