Normal Police are looking for the man who opened fire early Sunday after fights broke out at a large party near Illinois State University.

Police responded to Willow and University streets around 3:20 a.m. Sunday. Officers saw multiple fights break out on University and then heard gunshots on Willow, police said. A building in the 300 block of West Willow was struck. No one was hit by the gunfire, police said.

Gunfire broke out after onlookers broke up a fight between three people, police said. Two people involved walked away, but "while doing this one of them pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired it," police said. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the man who fired the weapon. Shell casings were found, police said.

The suspect was described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s, approximately 6-foot tall, wearing a black and white hoodie and jeans. Normal Police asks anyone with information about this incident to contact (309) 454-9535 or McLean County Crime Stoppers at (309) 828-1111.

Illinois State University Police issued a crime advisory later Sunday morning.
