The Peoria Fire Department pulled six people and a number of pets out of a Peoria home filled with carbon monoxide on Sunday afternoon.

The Peoria Fire Department responded to a medical call on a fallen person at 1325 W. Holly Hedges Dr. around 3:45 p.m. Crews arriving to the scene found several people unconscious or in an altered state. The pets appeared lethargic and ill, battallion chief Nathaniel Rice said.

Firefighters detected a dangerous level of carbon monoxide in the home. After exiting to grab air packs, the firefighters re-entered and began to pull people and pets out of the home while also working to ventilate the residence.

One person wasn't breathing when they were found, but was revived.

A pool heater inside the house is believed to be the source of the carbon monoxide leak.

The six people were transported to the hospital. Their conditions aren't known at this time.
