Heartland Health Services is permanently closing its South Peoria COVID-19 testing site.

The testing site at John Gwynn Park's Faucet Field saw lower usage than the East Bluff and Sheridan sites. Recently, testing at the John Gwynn site near Heartland's Carver clinic was reduced from five days a week to just one, and resources were shifted to Pekin.

"The 61605 community is still a concern of Heartland Health Services, but with the low turn-out in numbers it was hard to maintain the site," said Heartland CEO Sharon Adams in a brief statement Saturday.

Adams encouraged people to use the other two Peoria testing sites run by Heartland. The Illinois National Guard staffs another testing site at the Civic Center's Fulton Street parking lot.
