Statewide: What Should Happen After The Protests?

It has been an emotional and turbulent week in Illinois and across the country.

While many have made their voices heard about issues like police brutality and systemic racism, others are picking up the pieces after vandalism and looting, often in communities of color.

And the biggest question still looming is what happens next?  On this week's Statewide, we hear from those who say people and policies need to change.

This week's lineup:

* Olivia Mitchell talks with Black Lives Matter Springfield President Sunshine Clemons about the recent protests in her city and where she wants to see things go from here.

* Bill Wheelhouse speaks with Al Tompkins of the Poynter Institute about disinformation being spread on line during the recent civil unrest.

* Kate McGee of WBEZ has the story of a black-owned business in Chicago destroyed by looting and vandalism.

* Chase Cavanaugh with WNIJ visits with Northern Illinois University President Lisa Freeman, to discuss the tough decisions about the fall semester that lie ahead.

* Lee Gaines of Illinois Newsroom tells us about progress Illinois has made when it comes to early childhood education and what might be at risk due to the pandemic.

* Mike Smith ventures outside to hear a father-son duo raise spirits with their music for many who have been stuck at home.

* Maureen McKinney interviews Rep. Sonya Harper and Rep. Will Davis, both members of the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus, about what they've seen in recent days and their goals for policy change.
