Stretched Thin: Social Service Workers Now Becoming Clients

Mid Central Community Action

Editors Note:  "Stretched Thin," is examining the effect of the state budget impasse on local social service agencies to put a human face on how the stalemate is affecting the daily lives of Illinois residents.

Many human service agencies were forced to react immediately at the end of last June when Governor Bruce Rauner and Lawmakers chose not to agree on a state budget. Among them was Mid Central Community Action in Bloomington. In another part of the GLT Series 'Stretched Thin' Deborah White said projected grant revenue for Mid Central Community Action for the current budget tear is $182,000 more than what the state has actually delivered.

She said there are indications they may never get that money.

And in this interview with Charlie Schlenker, White said the fallout continues.
