McLean County Coroner Kathy Davis said DNA evidence confirmed the identifty of Aleksandar Sakovski, 31, as one of three victims in a September crash near Hudson.

Three months after a fiery crash between two semitrailer trucks shut down Interstate 39 near Hudson, the third victim has been identified.
McLean County Coroner Kathy Davis said the identity of Aleksandar Sakovski, 31, of Brookfield was confirmed through DNA. The DNA sample was sent to the U.S. Embassy in Sakovski’s native Bosnia, a process which Davis said took weeks.

She added the vehicles were so badly burned in the Sept. 19 crash that also slowed the identification process.

Previously, 32-year-old Mladen Petrovic of Brookfield, was "scientifically identified" as one of three people killed in the crash.

Davis said Petrovic and Sakovski are presumed to have been in the same semi but it’s not clear which may have been the driver in the crash.

The first victim identified was as 43-year-old, Guy L. Favorite IV, of St. Charles, Mo.

Davis said Illinois State Police continues to investigate the crash.

The crash happened on I-39 at mile marker 4 near Hudson. Reports indicate a northbound semitrailer truck crossed the median and struck another truck head on.
