Tri-County health officials on Friday announced three new deaths linked to COVID-19 and 185 additional coronavirus infections in the past day.
The latest figures bring the region’s case total to 30,886 since the start of the pandemic, and 4,858 since the last daily update in December. The death toll stands at 503.
The latest victims were a Peoria County woman in her 90s from Lutheran Hillside, and two Woodford County men in their 70s who were not associated with long-term care facilities.
Active cases jumped by 318, with 2,780 residents currently isolating at home. However, Peoria-area hospitalizations dipped by six to 81, including 26 patients in intensive care units.
According to the Illinois Department of Public Health’s online database, 23,581 doses of the COVID vaccine have been administered in Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties, with 2,083 residents fully vaccinated.
State health officials announced 7,042 new confirmed or probable coronavirus infections and 95 more COVID-19 deaths. That brings Illinois’ case tally to 1,093,375 and moves the death toll to 18,615.
The state’s preliminary seven-day positivity rate dropped to 6.2%, while vaccination figures show 616,667 doses administered and 128,469 people fully vaccinated. Hospitals across the state are treating 3,179 COVID patients, including 661 in ICUs and 348 on ventilators.
