Tri-County Health Officials Report 44th COVID-19 Death

A Peoria County woman in her 90s living in a long-term care facility has died from COVID-19 complications, local health officials announced Tuesday.

She is the 44th Tri-County resident to succumb to the disease since the pandemic began.

With 92 new infections confirmed, the region’s total number of cases grew to 2,380. Of those, 1,663 were from Peoria County where 33 people have died from the disease. More than 62% of patients in the region have recovered.

Illinois officials announced 1,549 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the state total to nearly 196,948. Twenty new deaths statewide brought the number of known fatalities to more than 7,657. The positivity rate for Illinois over the seven-day period ending Monday was 4.1%.
