Tri-County Reports More COVID Cases, Deaths

Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford counties on Tuesday reported 309 new COVID-19 cases and four additional deaths.

The deaths include a Peoria County woman in her 90s living at University Rehab, and a man in his 70s.

Tazewell County is reporting the deaths of a man in his 60s and a woman in her 60s, living at Fondulac Rehab and Health Care Center.

The Tri-County area is not reporting a total 20,565 cases and 291 deaths since the pandemic began.

There are 169 COVID-related hospitalizations in Peoria-area hospitals, including 50 people in the ICU.

State health officials reported 7,910 new COVID-19 cases and 145 more deaths across Illinois on Tuesday.

This brings the statewide totals past 804,000 cases, and nearly 13,500 deaths since the pandemic began.

The state's positivity rate is 11.8 percent.

Nearly 5,200 people are hospitalized with COVID-19 in Illinois. Of those patients, nearly 1,100 are in the ICU, and 626 are on ventilators.
