Two Attorneys Apply to Fill Hoos' Judicial Vacancy

Two Central Illinois attorneys have applied to fill the vacancy left on the bench by newly appointed Peoria County State's Attorney Jodi Hoos.

Attorneys Christopher Doscotch of Princeville and Gabriel Casey of Morton have applied to serve as a judge in the Tenth Judicial Circuit.

Hoos resigned as a circuit judge at the beginning of this month to take over the top prosecutor's job formerly held by the late Jerry Brady.

Illinois Supreme Court Justice Thomas Kilbride will use a poll of attorneys in the Tenth Judicial Circuit conducted by the Illinois State Bar Association to make a decision.

Background checks will also be performed on the candidates.

Anyone who wishes to weigh in can mail their comments to:

Judge Appointment Comments, Tenth Judicial Circuit, Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts, 3101 Old Jacksonville Road, Springfield, IL 62704

Comments are due by noon on Oct. 9.

The Tenth Judicial Circuit includes Peoria, Tazewell, Stark, Marshall, and Putnam counties.
