Unit 5 has canceled Saturday's long-delayed high school graduation ceremonies at the Corn Crib, citing inclement weather.

Unit 5 canceled Saturday's long-delayed high school graduation ceremonies at the Corn Crib, citing inclement weather.

"We are sad that the weather and the pandemic have changed how the Class of 2020 ended their high school career, but that does not diminish the pride we have in each and every one of our graduates," the schools said on Facebook. "As we have previously shared, there is no alternate date for this event and therefore the graduation ceremonies will not be rescheduled."

The Normal West ceremony was scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Corn Crib in north Normal, with the NCHS ceremony scheduled for 5 p.m.

Isolated thunderstorms will be possible Saturday afternoon, mainly east of the Interstate 55 corridor, according to the National Weather Service.

Bloomington High School hosted a drive-through graduation ceremony in May.

Last year before the pandemic, all three ceremonies were held inside Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington.
