The parent company of WEEK-TV and Heart of Illinois ABC is up for sale.

In a letter, Quincy Media President CEO Ralph Oakley said the time is right for the shareholders of the privately-held company to put the media company on the market.

Quincy Media's purchase of WEEK-TV from Granite Broadcasting was finalized in 2015. The company also ran the ABC affiliate through a shared sales agreement before purchasing it outright from Sinclair Broadcasting a year later.

The two stations are the NBC and ABC affiliates for the Peoria-Bloomington TV market. Nexstar owns or operates the market's CBS and Fox affiliates.

The Quincy, Ill.-based company owns 16 TV stations in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, West Virginia, New York, and Arizona.

In Illinois, the company also owns WREX in Rockford, WSIL in Harrisburg, and WGEM in Quincy.

The company also owns WGEM-AM radio and the Quincy Herald-Whig newspaper in Quincy, as well as the Hannibal Courier-Post in Hannibal, Mo.
