Someone has poured a caustic liquid on a popular public artwork in downtown Bloomington.

Thirteen years ago, the City of Bloomington bolted the joint emergency service dispatch operation known in McLean County as Metcom. That created years of hard feelings from other area governments over the abandoned agreement and the extra cost it created for taxpayers.

A new video shared this week by the Bloomington Police Department shows Officers Logan Fosdick and Paul Jones performing “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” in the parking lot outside police headquarters and City Hall. Accompanied only by a guitar and their squad cars, the video has racked up thousands of views.

At the end of the video, Sgt. Kiel Nowers jokingly interrupts their performance and tells them to get back to work.

A 14-year-old boy is in critical condition after being shot in the face Saturday in Bloomington.

Police found the boy inside a residence in the 1400 block of North Lee Street after being called around 4:15 p.m. Saturday, Bloomington police said. The boy had an apparent gunshot wound to his face, police said. He was taken to the hospital and is reportedly in critical condition, police said Monday.
