McLean County health officials on Monday reported 164 more COVID-19 cases confirmed over the weekend, as the county’s testing positivity rate dipped slightly to 5.3%.

It marks the highest weekend case count since Jan. 19. The new cases were found in a batch of about 3,100 test results returned since Friday. McLean County’s total caseload since the start of the pandemic totals 16,324.

Two more McLean County residents have died from COVID-19 complications, as the county climbs past 16,000 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic.

The latest fatalities are two men—one in his 40s and the other in his 60s. Neither was associated with a long-term care facility. The death toll from the pandemic is now up to 210.

Two more COVID-19 patients were hospitalized over the weekend, bringing the total to 24 patients, the department said Monday. There are fewer intensive care beds open than at the end of last week—88% of ICU beds are in use, up from 73% on Friday. Overall bed capacity nearly doubled to 11%.

Another 183 McLean County residents are isolating at home, while an additional 23 are now considered recovered.
