Visitors to the Central Illinois Regional Airport should expect limited access to the main road in front of the Bloomington airport starting next Monday.
As that main road is rehabilitated, access to the front curb where passenger pickup and drop-off normally occurs will be limited, which could increase traffic in that area.
CIRA said in a news release it encourages visitors to use the short-term parking lot for pickup and drop-off of passengers; parking in that lot is free.
Work on CIRA's main road will be split into four phases expected to span 12 weeks.
CIRA said to expect traffic patterns at the airport to change daily, with flaggers and traffic devices to guide drivers.
The road rehabilitation is one of three major capital improvement projects the nearly 2,000-acre airport is undergoing. On June 6, CIRA entered into the second phase of an ongoing project to relocate the airport's general aviation storage area on the property, meeting Federal Aviation Administration standards.
That project is expected to be completed in 2025.
CIRA is owned and operated by the Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority.
