WGLT Hall Of Fame
The WGLT Hall of Fame was established in 2018 to recognize those who have made contributions integral to the station's ongoing excellence in public service to the Illinois State University, Bloomington-Normal and McLean County communities.
Each Hall of Fame class and that year's Alumni Award winner are recognized at WGLT's Radio Faces fundraising dinner. Starting in 2023, a new Hall of Fame class will be selected every other year, so the next class will be chosen in 2025.
Inductees
Because of the pandemic, no Radio Faces event was held in 2020, 2021, or 2022. As a result, there were no additions to the WGLT Hall of Fame or Alumni Award winners selected during those years.
Selection Committee
The Selection Committee consists of:
- WGLT Executive Director (committee chair)
- Dean of College of Arts and Sciences (or their designee)
- WGLT Content Director
- WGLT Development Director
- Up to three members of WGLT staff appointed by the committee chair
Election Process
Nominations may be made by any current WGLT full or part-time staff member, while committee members should endeavor to nominate at least two people annually. Typically, nominations will be accepted and selections made in the Fall of odd-numbered years, and honorees will be announced that October (generally pegged to Illinois State's Homecoming week). Honorees will be acknowledged at the Radio Faces dinner and in the WGLT annual report, and will be recognized in a permanent physical display at WGLT and WGLT.org.
Current WGLT staff, including full and part-time employees and volunteers, are ineligible for nomination and election unless approved unanimously by the committee. Nominees require 5 of 7 votes for election; nominations and committee vote totals will not be made public. Unsuccessful nominees remain eligible for future selection.
Hall of Fame Categories include:
- Administrators (includes Illinois State University and academic administrators and former WGLT management)
- On-air personalities
- Staff (not on-air)
- Contributors, volunteers, and community leaders (financial contributors, corporate underwriters, other donors, and station or community volunteers)
- Alumni including former WGLT student workers or interns who have gone on to success as a professional and as a citizen.
