Here are 3 things to do for the weekend of Aug. 16-18, 2024, curated by WGLT's Lauren Warnecke. You can find more coverage on our Datebook - Arts & Music page or by subscribing to WGLT's Weekend Scoop email newsletter, which goes out every Friday.

Bring your best bloopers: Bloomington-Normal’s signature story slam gathers quarterly to share true tales based on a common theme. This time, it’s “Nailed it!” Nailed it like the unfortunate cake-baking competition on Netflix? Maybe. Nailed it like construction oopsies or home reno bloopers? Probably. 7:30 p.m. Friday at McLean County Arts Center; free. nexttonormalstoryslam.com.

Hear Jazz on Front: Jazz UpFront’s day-long street fest celebrating a rangy selection of local and regional jazz artists features headliners from Chicago and St. Louis. 1 p.m. Saturday on Front Street in downtown Bloomington; free admission. jazzupfront.com.

Hello Goodbye June: Nashville hard rock trio Goodbye June has all the right ingredients: Landon Milbourn’s soulful, raspy vocal; Tyler Baker’s equally roaring lead guitar riffs and contagious, bluesy melodies you can’t help but love. Peoria rockers Cole Hollow open. 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Castle Theatre (doors at 6:30 p.m.); tickets $17 at thecastletheatre.com.
