This year's Bloomington Labor Day Parade will take on a new theme this year: “Labor Voices – Labor Votes” starting at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, at Front and Center streets in downtown Bloomington.

“This is a reminder to the community that people power requires voting,” said Trades & Labor President Robert Paul. “When union members vote and elect their friends, jobs and a better life come for our members."

Along with their pro-voting theme, the parade will also feature union marching units along with Illinois State University’s Big Red Marching Machine, community organizations and elected officials and candidates. More than 80 units are registered for the parade, according to organizers.

Parade lineup will begin at 9 a.m. Labor Day (Monday). Starting at 10 a.m., the parade will proceed west on Front Street to Lee Street, moving south to Wood Street, then west on Wood Street to Miller Park.
