A fundraising campaign for McLean County's only Catholic high school has netted more than $10 million less than a year after it was announced.
Central Catholic High School is closing its inaugural Vision Campaign after raising $10,407,150 in donations, according to a news release.
Launched in February, the Vision Campaign was split into four different categories: $3.5 million to grow endowment, $500,000 to expand programs, $3 million to enhance facilities and $3 million to strengthen the school's annual fund.
The $10.4 million raised will largely be directed at supporting the school's academic programs and student well-being [70%] with the remainder being set aside for capital improvement projects.
Five new, full scholarships have been created, too, with school president Sean Foster noting in the release that more than half of the private school's student body qualifies — and receives — financial aid.
Foster said the success of the campaign has lengthened the school's wait list and that its freshman class already was at maximum capacity, meaning the school's next move will be hiring additional teachers to reflect the growing student body.
