Staff / WGLT

The McLean County Health Department is reporting 52 new COVID-19 cases and an additional hospitalization.

There are now 54 county residents being treated for coronavirus complications. Hospital bed capacity tightened overnight. Intensive care bed use is up to 96% -- an increase of 15% from Monday. Overall bed capacity is down to 8%.

The county’s active COVID caseload is down for the second day in a row. That figure is now 647 with 593 residents isolating at home.

Tuesday’s cases were found in a batch of about 1,300 test results returned overnight. It brings the county’s total case count since the start of the pandemic to 16,906. The county's testing positivity rate rose slightly to 5.4%.

MCHD reports 16,045 people have completed their time in isolation and are now considered recovered, an increase of 94 in the past day.

The county has administered just under 107,000 doses of the COVID vaccine. That’s up 525 doses from Monday.

Data from the Illinois Department of Public Health show 45,664 county residents are now fully vaccinated. That amounts to 26.42% of the population.

MCHD will host a virtual town hall from 6 to 7 p.m. tonight to address questions about the vaccine from the Spanish-speaking community.
