Chicago Area Firm Contracted To Manage CityLift, CountyLink Services

The Greater Peoria Mass Transit District is entering into a partnership with Chicago-based Transdev to manage and operate its CityLift paratransit and CountyLink rural transportation services.

This is the first time the CityLift and CountyLink services will be combined under the same contract. Doug Roelfs, general manager at CityLink, said the partnership will bring lots of benefits.

"I think the benefits are going to be a fresh, new company that are really going to work hard to provide a good service for us," he said. "They're going to take care of our customers. I think it'll be of benefit for both our passengers and CityLink."

Roelfs said the third-party contract takes effect Dec. 1.

"We look forward to a great working relationship for the next five to 10 years," Roelfs said.

Combined, CityLift and CountyLink transport an estimated 165,000 passengers a year throughout the Peoria area.
