The Illinois State University Redbirds beat the Indiana State Sycamores at the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament on Friday night, moving one step closer to Big Dance.
With tip-off at 8:30 p.m., the Redbirds held an early lead. Throughout the first half multiple fouls affected the Redbird squad as they attempted to keep a hold of their lead.
At the start of the second half, the Redbirds were winning 34-31, with traveling Redbird fans encouraging them at every step. The final score was Redbirds 77, Sycamores 70.
The Redbirds will go on to play Southern Illinois on Saturday at 5 p.m. The winner of Sunday's tournament championship gets an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
