Inner-City Teacher Takes No Shortcuts to Success
He's won the American Teacher Award, been awarded the National Medal of Arts, and made an honorary Member of the Order of the British Empire. For 24 years, Rafe Esquith has taught at an inner city school in Los Angeles, inspiring his fifth graders to excel far beyond the low expectations often placed on poor, immigrant children.

AIG Asks Recipients To Give Back Part Of Bonus
House lawmakers grilled AIG Chief Executive Edward Liddy on Wednesday about the $165 million in bonuses paid out to executives at the firm. AIG is a major bailout beneficiary, and the bonuses have provoked outrage from congressional members as well as the public. Liddy says he has asked some of the employees to return part of the bonus.
