WGLT, Bloomington-Normal’s Public Media and part of the NPR Network, will host three events in one night ahead of the April 1 municipal election. A candidate open house and two mayoral forums will take place Tuesday, March 4, from 5-8 p.m. All events will take place at the Illinois State University Bone Student Center Brown Ballroom.
Joining WGLT for the events are our co-hosts:
- Illinois State University: Center for Civic Engagement, Student Government Association, and The Vidette
- Bloomington-Normal NAACP
- McLean County League of Women Voters
Additional special thanks to the Alice and Fannie Fell Trust at Illinois State University for financially supporting this series of events.
Parking for the event is available in the Bone Student Center pay lot.
Open house
Everyone on the spring ballot in McLean County is invited to participate. Candidates will be set up in a casual open house format from 5-7 p.m. to meet with voters and discuss issues.
Mayoral forums
- Bloomington mayor forum is 5:45-6:45 p.m.
- Normal mayor forum is 7-8 p.m.
The open house and forums will take place side by side in the ballroom.
Do you have questions for the candidates? Ask at WGLT.org/Mayor2025.
Inclement weather
In the case of inclement weather forcing Illinois State University to close campus, the open house will be cancelled. March 18 will serve as our back-up date for the mayoral forums only.
