A Japanese singer/songwriter/guitarist who has shape-shifted among four different personas is getting extended turntable play at Reverberation Vinyl in Bloomington.
In this edition of What's On Your Turntable, GLT's Jon Norton stopped by the store across from Illinois Wesleyan University to hear owner John Anderson give a quick tutorial on the music of Masaki Batoh.
Anderson highlighted five songs spanning Batoh’s solo career, starting with “Tower of the Silence” from his just released Drag City Records release titled "Nowhere."
He also touched on Batoh’s work with Ghost, now disbanded after a 30-year run, as well as his new group The Silence and his mid-1990s recording with a supergroup of Japanese psychedelia named Cosmic Invention.
