The series debuts Tuesday, April 7, at the Normal Theater in Uptown with a screening of "Good Night, and Good Luck."

In celebration of WGLT’s 60th anniversary, the station will host a series for the community featuring a few all-time great movies highlighting the importance of a free press.

We selected films exploring themes including who controls the news, how large investigations come together, and how newsrooms respond to political pressures. Plus, meet members of the WGLT newsroom before the movie and ask your news questions.

The series debuts Tuesday, April 7, at the Normal Theater in Uptown with a screening of Good Night, and Good Luck. Doors open at 6 p.m. and showtime is 7 p.m. All movies are free to attend.

2026 event schedule

April 7: Good Night, and Good Luck

2005 - PG - 1hr 33m
Good Night, and Good Luck follows 1950s CBS journalist Edward R. Murrow (David Strathairn) as he uses his television program, See It Now, to expose the fear-mongering and unsubstantiated communist accusations of Senator Joseph McCarthy. Alongside producer Fred Friendly (George Clooney), Murrow risks his career to uphold journalistic integrity against corporate pressure.

June 2: All the President’s Men

1976 - PG - 2hr 18m
All the President's Men is a political thriller based on the true story of how two Washington Post reporters uncovered the Watergate scandal. Journalists Bob Woodward (Robert Redford) and Carl Bernstein (Dustin Hoffman) investigate a 1972 break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters in the Watergate complex. As they follow leads, verify sources, and rely on confidential informants, they piece together evidence that ultimately contributes to President Nixon’s resignation.
