Washington Woman Drowns In Evergreen Lake

A 71-year-old woman from Washington has died after her car drove into Evergreen Lake late Friday night. In a statement, McLean County coronor Kathy Davis said Deena Rogers of Washington, IL died from "drowning due to an automobile driving into the lake."

The Coroner’s Office received notification of a fatality at Comlara Park, near Hudson, just before 11:00 p.m. Friday. The statement added the McLean County Sheriff’s Office, Hudson Dive Team, Hudson Fire Department, Hudson Ambulance Service, Illinois State Police, Danvers Police Department and Carlock Fire Department were already on scene at the time.

Davis pronounced Rogers dead about 30 mintues later. Toxicology results are pending. 

The incident remains under investigation by the McLean County Coroner’s Office and the McLean County Sheriff’s Office.
