Derek Reveron Reports From Miami On The Problem Of Overcrowded Schools

in Dade County, Florida. Authorities blame the glut largely on immigration. Most of the 300 public schools in the system are operating at or above full capacity. Makeshift classrooms in trailers accommodate some of the overflow, but there still is a shortage of teachers and educational materials. Both faculty members and students are frustrated and say the quality of education is suffering.
