Linda talks with NPR's Peter Kenyon about Georgia Republican Newt Gingrich's effort to ensure his re-election tomorrow as the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Gingrich began his day in Marietta, Georgia, where he told constituents that he would be sworn in tomorrow as Speaker despite his admission of ethics violations. He is to address House Republicans this evening in Washington about members' concerns, but leaders of both parties predicted he would be re-elected.
