Nelson, a professor in the School of Public Affairs at the University of Maryland, about his claim that mismanagement on the part of the U.S. Forest Service has turned the American West into a tinderbox. He suggests that if the government were to relax restrictions on the commerical timber industry, the threat of uncontrolled forest fires would be greatly reduced.
