Brothers Austin and Mason Spencer of Bloomington were both diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder, called XLP2, that's caused by a chromosome mutation and attacks the immune system. In 2014, the brothers received bone marrow transplants to fight the disease. GLT's Ave Rio spoke with older brother Austin about how he and his brother are battling their way back to health.
On Saturday August 15, friends of the Spencer family are hosting a trivia night to raise funds to help cover the family's medical costs, which exceed a million dollars. The event will be from 7 to 10 p.m. at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
