Peoria Teen Arrested On 28 Burglary Charges

Creative Commons

A 17-year-old Peoria teenager faces 28 counts of burglary dating back to January after his latest alleged incident.

Peoria Police Lt. Michael Boland said officers responded to Wal-Mart, 3315 N. University, around 1:25 a.m. Friday. Boland said the teenager forcibly entered the store by smashing through the glass front doors.

Surveillance video shows him entering, stealing items, and quickly leaving, Boland said.

Officers found evidence nearby and arrested the teenager on E. Republic.

Boland said an investigation led them to believe the teen is connected to 29 other burglaries across Peoria. The collective damage caused by breaking glass windows and doors at various businesses passes $100,000.

The teenager is being detained at the Peoria County Juvenile Justice Center.
