Town Of Normal Pools Won't Require Reservations For Summer Visits

The Fairview Family Aquatic Center opens May 29.
The Fairview Family Aquatic Center opens May 29.

You won’t need to make a reservation to use Normal’s public pools this summer after all.

Normal Parks and Rec initially planned to require people to reserve a time to visit the Fairview and Anderson aquatic centers, due to COVID-19 restrictions. But that’s now been lifted because Illinois is entering the Bridge Phase on Friday.

“We are pleased the state has made changes allowing us to follow these more flexible guidelines,” Hanna Razo, aquatics supervisor, said in a statement. “We will continue to be adaptable and accommodate all patrons and program participants as IDPH guidelines allow.”

There will still be changes due to COVID.

Both pools will be operating at limited capacity (33% at Fairview, 26% at Anderson). No group visits, field trips or birthday party reservations will be accepted.

Face coverings will be required when entering/exiting each facility, using locker rooms and bathrooms, in the concession area and anytime on deck when social distancing cannot be maintained.

Fairview opens May 29. Anderson opens June 5.

Bloomington Parks and Rec previously announced plans to require reservations at its Holiday Pool this summer. (O’Neil Pool is closed for a rebuilding project.)
