Content Republishing, Reprinting and Licensing
Those who want to republish, reprint or license WGLT content must submit that request for approval using this form, unless otherwise noted:
You’ll get an email notification approving or denying the request within 5 business days.
“Content” is defined as audio, text, photographs, graphics, and videos produced by a member of the WGLT staff. Unpublished content, such as unused photos or video footage, is not available for republishing, reprinting or licensing.
For requests to use the WGLT logo, contact our Assistant General Manager and Development Director.
Free use
No formal permission is required for these uses of WGLT content:
- Linking to our website.
- Personal use: This means your own private use of the content. This means you may not engage in further distribution, reprinting, reposting, or rebroadcast (over the airwaves or on the internet), either commercial or noncommercial. A personal website does not count as personal use.
- Academic or research use: It is always permissible to quote or cite WGLT content as a reference in an academic paper, subject to the same guidelines as any other reference source. It is always permissible to play audio files or display stories directly from WGLT in the classroom for instructional purposes.
Use with permission
Upon request, WGLT will consider granting permission to republish, reprint and license its content from the following groups and individuals:
- Noncommercial or nonprofit media outlets.
- Documentarians, filmmakers, artists, and independent journalists.
- Nonprofit organizations – licensing fee may apply.
- Government bodies – licensing fee may apply.
- For-profit/commercial media or trade publications – licensing fee will apply.
- Businesses, companies, or other for-profit groups – licensing fee will apply.
All requests must come through the Request Form. We reserve the right to refuse any request to reprint WGLT content.
Licensing fee
Generally, WGLT will waive or reduce licensing fees for most nonprofits and government bodies, though the station reserves the right to charge those fees for requests on a case-by-case basis. That includes content for which the station incurred significant expense to produce it, or for large nonprofits with capacity to produce their own content.
With the approval of the General Manager, fees can be waived if a formal partnership or trade agreement is reached between the station and the requesting organization.
The fee pays for one specific use of the content and does not grantee the fee payer rights to the content in perpetuity.
Not permitted
You are not allowed to use WGLT content or marks in connection with the following:
- Advertising, promotional, marketing, or testimonial material for commercial products or commercial services.
- Fundraising.
- Political activities (including without limitation use in connection with any endorsement of a candidate for political office, to support any side in a political debate or by any organization with a primarily political purpose).
Credits, Editing and Excerpts
