Santa and Buddy from "Elf the Musical," which runs the first three weekends in November at Community Players Theatre in Bloomington.

The tale of Buddy the Elf is a holiday classic for many, and just in time for the holiday season the Community Players Theatre in Bloomington are bringing the holiday cheer to the stage.

“We have a show for all ages,” said director Scott Myers. "You can come with your 6-year-old grandson on one side and your spouse on the other side of an older age, and everyone is going to find something that they are going to enjoy.”

Making its way to the stage during the first three weekends of November, this production of "Elf the Musical" will take you to New York City, the North Pole, and on a journey of finding yourself, all without leaving Bloomington.

Myers understands that you will recognize certain scenes and lines from "Elf" the movie. But don't expect a clone or impersonations of them. By adding the musical elements of the show and some new takes on well-known characters, this production will stand on its own … while still tugging at the heart strings.

Ariele Jones is currently the host of Morning Edition; Center Stage, a show focusing on the music of Broadway and Hollywood; and Highway 309.
